The stars aligned this afternoon – both boys napped at the same time and I can blog. 🙂 I have hopes of fun posts on the horizon, but here’s one I didn’t want to skip: our annual pilgrimage to the apple orchard with some of our favorite friends!
Our two families always get the apple festival on our calendars months in advance, but this year, I got an email from the orchard practically begging us not to come on the weekend we had scheduled due to muddy orchards and parking lots, peak leaves attracting crowds, and anticipated long lines – they didn’t want anyone disappointed with the experience. So we returned in November on a shockingly chilly morning – we only lasted 2 hours and spent the rest of the day trying to thaw out. But there were no crowds or mud, so there was the trade-off.
Actually we pretty much had the place to ourselves.
During festival season, this view might be standing-room-only.
And we still got to enjoy our favorite apple cider donuts with (lukewarm) apple cider. And a new tradition added – a bus ride to “Fuji” at the top of the orchard where the fuji apples are harvested. (Because all the other varieties were picked-over.) Not that we picked any frosty apples anyway!
Except this one, which he squirreled away in his hood!
