Week 30 | Bumps and Wiggles

7-16-14 pregnancy 30 weeks

Emotions | Happy to reach the 30-week mark! Anxious for September to get here but not ready to wish away my summer with E!

Gender | Sweet boy

Name | Saving as a surprise

Affirmations | Backaches/stiff in the evenings. Some shortness of breath when the baby is pushing on me. I took another lavender, milk, & oats soak this week after sitting for 2 hours at Bible study and then rocking E. Some heartburn.

Baby size | 15.7,” 2.75 lb., roughly the size of a cabbage

To do this week | 30-week midwife appointment. Finish looking through E’s baby clothes. Work on potty-training E to free up his cloth diapers for the baby to start using in 12 weeks! Possibly go in to work. Finish organizing guest room closet.

Things checked off list | Hung wall decor and monogram in the nursery. Hung new black-out curtains and new crib skirt in the nursery. Inventoried one crate of baby clothes to see what we still need. Bought a teepee for the boys! Finally turned our 2-yo’s car seat to forward-facing – it’s a new world out there for him!

Movement felt | Constant, especially around mealtimes and late at night, with my entire belly moving – really painful, just like it was with E. Painful, but reassuring and sweet. Lots of baby hiccups.

Cravings | Peaches, Gatorade, orange juice, milk

Aversions | Hamburger, most sweets (the heartburn isn’t worth it)

Workouts this week | 4 hours of watching little ones at church – keeping the nursery and then teaching preschool Sunday School. Walked around neighborhood a lot and on treadmill. Oh, and Natasha’s new workout, although I tweaked it, so I do pushups instead of crunches and extra jumping jacks instead of burpees, like this:

Weight/size | Will know after my appointment tomorrow!

Crazy dreams and sleep patterns | Usually up 1-2 times a night. Lots of crazy vivid dreams that I don’t remember for very long. I read a pretty intense fiction book about the Holocaust this week, which kept me up a few nights.

Best moments this week | Weekend with my family, lots of time outside. Watching fireworks from our 3rd story attic window. E calling the baby by name and asking him to come out, and pretending to give my belly a bottle.

Low moment this week | And by “low” I mean for them, not me: Three separate people asked me this week what we’re having, and when I said “it’s a boy!” they all said, “oh. bummer.” or a similar sentiment. Really?! Coincidentally, none of them have sons. Or daughters, for that matter. I could write a blog post on this topic and the number of people who have said it to me already. We came across this book at the library today!

Looking forward to | Meeting our little boy in person!

What I miss | Pre-pregnancy size/all-day energy

Messages and prayers to baby | Keeping them unwritten this week.
