Summer reads and treads

21 07 2013

So remember how I mentioned in a previous post that I like to read while on the treadmill? I’ve gotten to relish in some of my favorite “chick lit” this summer. Some are guilty pleasures that I tend to reread each summer. After having a baby last summer, the only reading I could squeeze in was on my Kindle app while pumping milk for my newborn twice a day at work. And now it’s pretty limited to my morning “me-time” on the treadmill. But today, my RunKeeper app (I recently switched from using Map My Run) told me that I’ve hit a record number of workouts for the month — 10 running days in a 21-day period — and it’s probably because I’ve been engrossed in the following books and thus more motivated to follow my Disney training schedule without missing a beat:

  • Revenge Wears Prada (Lauren Weisberger)
  • Baby Proof (Emily Giffin) – a reread
  • Where We Belong (Emily Giffin)
  • Something Borrowed (Emily Giffin) – a reread
  • Something Blue (Emily Giffin) – a reread
  • Last Night at Chateau Marmont (Lauren Weisberger)
  • Unglued (Lysa TerKeurst) – reading this as part of a Bible study

What are some of your favorite summer reads? I recently started the Silver Linings Playbook but didn’t finish, and I also love, love anything by Jodi Picoult. 🙂
